Methodology

We look at your business the way a new customer does.

A customer doesn’t experience “SEO”, “local listings” and “web design” separately. They search, compare, decide and call. So we check that whole path in order, find where people drop out, and fix those points first.

1

Get found

Can customers find you where they look?

  • Is every important page indexed by Google?
  • Is the Business Profile verified, correctly categorised and complete?
  • Do name, phone and service area match across Google, Bing, Apple and directories?
  • Do AI assistants name you for the questions customers actually ask?

2

Get chosen

Once they find you, do they pick you?

  • Does the first screen say what you do, where, and how to get in touch?
  • Are reviews recent, specific and answered?
  • Is there proof of real work: photos, areas, accreditations you hold?
  • Does contacting you take one tap on a phone?

3

Grow

Is it turning into work, and is it improving?

  • Which searches bring visitors, and are they the right ones?
  • Do calls and forms arrive, and does anyone answer them quickly?
  • Is repetitive follow-up something software could handle?
  • What changed since the last check?

Prioritising

Fix first, improve, or leave alone.

Every finding gets one of three labels, so you can see at a glance where effort pays back fastest. Anything simple enough to do yourself is marked as such.

How we test AI assistants

AI answers vary, so a single screenshot proves nothing. We ask the questions a customer would ask, on more than one day and in more than one assistant, and record which businesses are named and which sources are cited. The approach draws on research from Astonto.

What we won’t do

Some shortcuts cost more than they save.

  • Guaranteeing rankings or AI mentions
  • Fake, bought or incentivised reviews
  • Keyword-stuffed pages or copies of the same page for every town
  • Hidden text or tricks aimed at search engines rather than people
  • Long contracts before you have seen results

Questions

Straight answers.

How do you measure whether it worked?
With the tools you already have access to: Google Search Console for searches and clicks, Business Profile insights for calls and direction requests, and your own record of enquiries or leads. We compare like with like, before and after.
Do you publish the research behind this?
Research on how AI systems recommend businesses is published by Astonto, a separate company. Groportune publishes practical guides for business owners.
